Businesses savor bowl fan dollars

Today's Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, featuring North Carolina and Pittsburgh, will attract thousands of football fans, traffic tie-ups and tailgaters. Some of the biggest fans may be Charlotte businesses: The event at Bank of America Stadium is expected to inject about $20million into restaurants, hotels and other local businesses, said Tim Newman, chief executive of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.
