It was Len Bias of Maryland whose 35-point performance in an overtime victory against the then-No. 1 Tar Heels that handed North Carolina its first loss in the Smith Center. This is the 30th anniversary of that season. This time, it was UNC knocking Maryland from the ranks of the unbeatens. The teams played a fitting game Tuesday night in front of an electric crowd.
