Jacob’s Ladder; Stallings’ persistence pays off for Pirates

Two months past his 30th birthday, Jacob Stallings arrived at spring training last week as the most experienced catcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. “He’s a guy that’s grinded and works hard and he pays attention to what’s important in the game today,” Pirates manager Derek Shelton, an admittedly “bad” former minor-league catcher, said.
