Avery Patterson headed home the only goal of the game with 9:17 to play to give No. 5 North Carolina a 1-0 road win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night (Highlights). Carolina outshot the Panthers, 24-3, and took all 11 corner kicks in the game, but it wasn't until UNC's 10th corner of the match before the Tar Heels could get a shot past the Pitt goalkeeper.
