Just in case you missed it late Monday night, both Dustin Ackley and Donavan Tate beat the clock and signed contracts just before the deadline set by Major League Baseball for players selected in this year’s draft. Ackley, a first baseman who helped North Carolina to three straight college World Series trips and the No. 2 overall pick, signed with the Seattle Mariners that could be worth $9.5 million.
