UNC Women Drop Conference Opener To Maryland, 79-70

Alyssa Thomas had 21 points and 14 rebounds, and No. 8 Maryland beat No. 10 North Carolina 79-70 on Sunday in the Terrapins' final ACC opener. With Hall of Fame coach Sylvia Hatchell watching from a sideline television platform, UNC had its seven-game win streak snapped. Hatchell has been out all year while she receives treatment for leukemia.
