North Carolina guard Diamond DeShields has been named National Freshman of the Year by espnW. DeShields, the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year and first team All-ACC selection, is averaging 18.0 points and 5.4 rebounds for the Tar Heels during the 2013-14 season.
