UNC mascot struck by SUV

Jason Ray, a UNC Chapel Hill senior from Concord who portrays the Tar Heels mascot Rameses the Ram, was in critical condition early today after being hit by an SUV in northern New Jersey. Police in nearby Fort Lee said Ray was walking along the street just before 4 p.m. Friday, returning to his hotel room after buying food from a convenience store, when he was struck by a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Gagik Hovsepyan.
