Remembering Elson Floyd

Some called him a giant in higher education, a dynamic force who could influence lawmakers and business leaders one day and cheerfully welcome students to his home the next. At a ceremony Wednesday at Washington State University, thousands gathered to celebrate the university’s 10th president, UNC alumnus Elson Floyd, who died of colon cancer June 20 at the age of 59.
