Heels to play Irish for women's NCAA title
Posted Dec 2, 2006
It was better late than never for North Carolina, as it scored twice in the final six minutes to defeat UCLA 2-0 last night in a NCAA Women's College Cup semifinal at SAS Stadium. Casey Nogueira and Heather O'Reilly got the goals and Yael Averbuch had two assists as the Tar Heels kept alive their dream of a 18th NCAA soccer title. North Carolina (26-1-0) advances to Sunday's championship, its first in three years, and will play Notre Dame (25-0-1), a 2-1 winner over Florida State (18-4-4).
