On 17 March 1972, Mariel Margaret “Mia” Hamm was born. She would go on to revolutionise the sport of soccer in America, becoming both the leading scorer and creator in international games for both genders. However, that is not the only factor that sets her apart. She somehow managed to do it in a world made by men, of men, and for men.
