Bobby Cremins tells the stories that bind New York, ACC, Georgia Tech


grew up in New York, played and then coached at St. John’s before taking the job at UNC in 1952, the year before the ACC was founded. McGuire heavily recruited New York – it was called the “underground railroad” – and in 1957, the Tar Heels finished a 32-0 season by winning the school’s second national championship with a starting lineup of five New Yorkers.
