Former Tar Heel rower turns lifelong passion into way to help others

While Christine Shaffer's crew gives her a hard time out of the water, rowing is her lifelong passion. "It's where I feel I make the most impact in other peoples' lives," Shaffer, the founder of the Triangle Rowing Club, said. She joined the Tar Heel rowing team when it was a club sport, and she was one of the women who helped rowing become a Division I sport at UNC.
