Redshirt freshman right-hander Luke Putkonen struck out a career-high seven batters over seven strong innings and Chad Flack and Tim Federowicz each had big nights to extend their current hitting streaks to 10 games as No. 1 North Carolina claimed a 6-3 win over visiting VCU Tuesday at Boshamer Stadium. At 35-8 on the season, the Tar Heels are now tied for the most wins in the nation.
