Jennifer Alley Named ACC Women's Basketball Legend
The ACC announced its fifth annual class of Women's Basketball Legends Thursday to be honored at the 2009 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament, held March 5-8, at the Greensboro Coliseum, and former UNC head coach Jennifer Alley was among those chosen. Alley served nine years as the first full time head women's basketball coach at the University of North Carolina and helped the Tar Heels capture the 1984 ACC crown. (

Atlanta Dream Re-Signs Point Guard Nikki Teasley
The Atlanta Dream announced today that the team has re-signed unrestricted free agent point guard
Nikki Teasley. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. "Atlanta is a great city and I am happy about the opportunity to play again," Teasley said. "The fans here really support the Dream and the front office has done a great job with adding some new additions to the team. I anxiously await the 2009 season." (

Seventy-First retires LaToya Pringle's No. 30
Tuesday night at the Fayetteville Seventy-First gym, tribute was paid to another 30 from days past. But this 30 still has plenty of life in it, and isn’t ready to be retired to some dusty old record book, although it certainly has filled up a few pages in some over the years.
LaToya Pringle came back to the Seventy-First gym to have her jersey, No. 30, officially retired from the rolling stock of Seventy-First uniforms. No longer will a female basketball player for Seventy-First wear that number. (

Atlanta Dream Signs Free Agent Point Guard Nikki Teasley
The Atlanta Dream announced today the signing of free agent point guard Nikki Teasley for the remainder of the season. Teasley spent the last two seasons with the Washington Mystics before parting ways with the team in March. She gave birth to her daughter in June and has missed all of the 2008 season to date.

Erlana Larkins adjusts to the pros
Erlana Larkins stood beside the Liberty team bus, idling in the bowels of the Verizon Center, as she waited for a ride to the train station and a trip back to New York. The Liberty had just won a rare afternoon game in Washington, but for Larkins, it was another game spent on the inactive list. While she experienced first-class travel with the Tar Heels, Larkins is not used to sitting on the bench, no matter how nice the surroundings.

Kellie Kennedy Inked At Loyola University
Former UNC Wilmington assistant women’s basketball coach Kellie Kennedy, who was apart of the Seahawk squad for three seasons, has been named head women’s basketball coach at Loyola University New Orleans. A 1990 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Kennedy was a four-year letterwinner for the Tar Heels. She earned Most Improved Player honors in 1988 and was the recipient of the 1990 UNC Scholar-Athlete Award.

Seattle Storm trades for Atlanta's Camille Little
Seattle Storm announced today a trade that will send its second round pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for 6-2 forward Camille Little. "We have been interested in Camille and are glad we were able to get a deal done," Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Brian Agler said. "I'm real familiar with Camille and adding her gives us some depth off of our bench."

BC’s Crawley at home in ACC
Sylvia Crawley knew all roads - even when they traverse three continents, 15 countries and two careers - would lead back to the Atlantic Coast Conference. The journey came full circle yesterday, when the former North Carolina star was introduced as Boston College’s sixth women’s basketball coach. Crawley replaces Cathy Inglese, who retired on April 10 after 15 seasons.
