Wild forced fumble hands Virginia Tech unlikely second chance

No one on Virginia Tech’s sideline knew what they were seeing. North Carolina lined up at the Hokies’ 1-yard line looking to put away the game leading 19-14 with less than three minutes to go. Quarterback Nathan Elliott handed off to Michael Carter expecting the running back to pound it into the end zone. A touchdown would have capped off a career-game for Carter.
