North Carolina applied the shackles to Florida State, a team known for defense, holding the Seminoles to 30% shooting and limiting them to one shot on all but six possessions. The Tar Heels held FSU to seven field goals in the second half, as UNC broke open what was a tense struggle in the first half. The Tar Heels dominated the final 11 minutes to win 77-59.
