Jay Bateman Among College Football's Top Coordinator Hires for 2019

7. Jay Bateman, Co-Defensive Coordinator, North Carolina: Bateman plans to install an attacking defense in Chapel Hill this offseason. Under Bateman’s direction the last 5 seasons at Army, the Black Knights improved significantly on defense, recording 303 tackles for a loss since 2014. Bateman will share the defensive coordinator title with Tommy Thigpen.
