Roy Williams had deep respect for the late Big House Gaines, a coaching legend at WSSU

Roy Williams gets plenty of inquiries from other schools looking to play exhibition games. One factor in UNC's scheduling of Winston-Salem State for Friday's exhibition game was the impact Big House Gaines, the legendary former WSSU basketball coach, had on Williams. Gaines, who died in April 2005, was someone Williams knew for a long time.
