Rasheed Wallace left Philly behind, but brought part of it with him during 16-year NBA career

After a standout junior season at Simon Gratz High, Rasheed Wallace sat with his coach, Bill Ellerbee, to discuss his future. He knew his mom needed help. No one in Wallace’s immediate family had gone to college. “What are you going to do?” Ellerbee asked. Wallace said he figured he’d try to get a 9-to-5 job at Sears, so that’s what he told Ellerbee.
