Triangle Timehop: Today in local college basketball history (March 22)
Posted Mar 23, 2020
March 22, 1957: UNC beats Michigan State in three overtimes, 74-70, getting its first-ever Final Four win and advancing to the championship game. Carolina would go on to play three overtimes yet again in the championship, of course, but we'll get to that later. The game featured 31 lead changes and 21 ties. Lennie Rosenbluth led Carolina with 31 points.
