It had only been five years, but it felt much longer than that. When UNC met Wisconsin in the 2005 regional final, the Tar Heels had not been to the Final Four since 2000's improbable run. That time period also included a rocky coaching transition from Bill Guthridge to Matt Doherty, an 8-20 season, an NIT appearance, and the arrival of Roy Williams.
