Defending champion North Carolina gets a lift from freshman

In his debut Friday night, North Carolina's "Psycho T" demonstrated the appropriateness of the nickname his teammates gave him. "T" is for , the 6-foot-9 freshman forward who led the Tar Heels with 26 points in their exhibition opener as they crushed Fayetteville State, 94-58, at the Smith Center. "Psycho" is for the way he attacks every loose ball and rebound with the relentless energy that became his signature as a high school All-American. (San Jose Mercury News)
