Richmond County standout commits to Tar Heels

North Carolina added another state high-school football player to its 2006 recruiting class yesterday, receiving a commitment from Tavares Brown, a 6-1, 260-pound defensive end from Rockingham. Brown is a senior at Richmond County High School where he plays for Coach Ed Emory. He was also offered scholarships by N.C. State, Maryland and East Carolina.
