Center Deon Thompson to UNC after Washington gets Hawes

Little was known about Deon Thompson as a major-college basketball prospect before the summer, but his future will now include a career at North Carolina, starting next year. Thompson, a 6-8, 250-pound center from Torrance, Calif., committed to North Carolina late Tuesday night to cap a fast rise among the nation's top recruits.
