Michael Jordan's Call Convinced Matt Doherty to Take the UNC Job


had just stepped down from the UNC head job after three seasons leading the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. It was the end of June, 2000. Doherty was out golfing when he got the first call, he said on the Carolina Conversation Podcast with (Video). "My phone rings and that is when I learned that Coach Guthridge resigned."
