Duplicate numbers lead to problems for UNC
Posted Sep 28, 2005
According to the NCAA's Web site on Tuesday, North Carolina had a running back crack the Division I-A top 100 in rushing yards this week: Larry Edwards, by averaging 62.7 yards per game. Oops. Wrong No. 32. The error -- Barrington is the rusher, not linebacker Larry -- will soon be fixed, a school spokesman said. But it is just one example of the problems that can occur when a team allows duplicate jersey numbers on its squad.
