Former Tar Heel forward Mitch Kupchak was a first-team All-American in 1976, ACC Player of the Year, two-time first-team All-ACC, Patterson Medal recipient, and his UNC jersey is honored at the Smith Center. Kupchak is 27th all-time at North Carolina with 1,611 career points. He averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for his UNC career.
