Former Tar Heel point guard was National Player of the Year in 1978, a three-time first-team All-American, ACC Player of the Year, ACC Athlete of the year, Patterson medal recipient, member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame and ACC’s 50th Anniversary team, and his No. 12 is retired by UNC.
