Greg Ellis must tackle switch
Posted Aug 1, 2005
For the first time in his eight-year NFL career, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Ellis started training camp doubting his ability to perform. What caused a player who has led his team in sacks the last four years to question whether he could get the job done? The Cowboys' decision to switch from a base 4-3 defense to a 3-4 scheme. During his NFL and college career at North Carolina, Ellis has played in a 4-3 scheme, but this year head coach Bill Parcells has decided to make the 3-4 scheme the main focus of the defense.
