N.C. football schools in ACC slump


In 2005, four of the state's top-five football prospects went out of state. Meanwhile, college basketball's grip on Tobacco Road remains strong. "North Carolina is probably always first and foremost going to be a basketball school," said North Carolina quarterback , "but there's no reason football can't be up closer." Since coach left the Tar Heels for Texas after the 1997 season, North Carolina's ACC schools have a total of five winning conference records. (Charlotte Observer)
