Johnny White: Chapel Hill is ‘the perfect place for me’
Posted Jul 26, 2005
So much for suspense. Asheville High tailback Johnny White strolled into the school’s weight room Monday afternoon to reveal his college decision wearing a North Carolina football camp T-shirt. As expected, White chose the Tar Heels over Arkansas and South Carolina. White, who rushed for 2,184 yards and accounted for an area-best 42 touchdowns in 2004, said he committed to North Carolina during a visit with his mother, Belinda, on July 16. “It’s the perfect place for me to be,” White said. “It felt like home. Now there’s no pressure on my back, and I can focus on the season. And when I get to North Carolina, I hope we can go play for a national championship.”
