UNC hoops alum Brian Reese takes assistant job at Porter Ridge


, a starter on the Tar Heels' 1993 title team, has taken a position at Porter Ridge High coaching the boys junior varsity basketball team and assisting Mike Helms with the varsity. The Pirate players, who were 6 or younger when Reese last suited up for UNC, are probably more familiar with and , the Charlotte Bobcats' 2005 first-round picks. But Helms said he thinks Reese will quickly earn the players' respect. (Enquirer Journal)
