Gene Chizik worked for two years as a long-distance dad in 2015 and '16 directing the Tar Heel defense under head coach Larry Fedora. He missed his daughters' senior year of high school. Two years back in the game with the Tar Heels was enough. Dad wasn't going to miss his son's final two years of baseball and football. "I had no idea what parents do."
