UNC Basketball Number One...For Now?

Last week, the Associated Press ranked North Carolina No. 1 in the AP’s annual preseason college basketball poll. Perhaps that makes it a good time to answer this intriguing question: How often does a preseason No. 1 team win the national championship? The short answer: not often. In fact, the last team to do it was Roy Williams’ 2008-09 Tar Heels.
