Tar Heels Weather Choppy Season Opener, Turn Back UNCW, 69-56

The No. 1 Tar Heels got off to an out-of-sync start, plodding past UNC Wilmington 69-56 on Monday night at the Smith Center to begin this season framed by the highest of expectations. R.J. Davis and Caleb Love supplied 17 points and Armando Bacot added 16 points and nine rebounds while saddled with foul trouble. UNC entered as a 23-point favorite.
