Brandon Tate drawing raves for kick returns

set an NCAA record Saturday in UNC's 28-24 win at Miami, but his effort was overshadowed by the play of quarterback Cam Sexton. Tate increased his combined return yardage on punts and kickoffs to 3,486. The old record was 3,455 yards, set in 1999 by California's Deltha O'Neal. Tate needs 325 yards on kickoff returns to set another NCAA record. Coach said that Tate is as good as any kick returner he has been around, even in the NFL. (Winston-Salem Journal)
