Miami defeated UNC 80-72 at the Smith Center on Monday, the 15th-ranked Hurricanes denying the Tar Heels what would have registered as a second meaningful victory against an opponent at or near the top of the ACC standings in the space of three nights. UNC’s miserable 5-for-31 shooting from beyond the arc made the task all the more difficult.
