North Carolina, once No. 1, now may have just one way into NCAA Tournament field

It seems unlikely that there are enough high-quality wins available in the conference tourney for UNC to make up for four months of mishandling its regular season. If things go as they have, Pete Nance will have transferred from Northwestern to join the nation’s No. 1 team and wound up out of the tournament while his former team is certain to receive a bid.
