As college football abandons what made it special, games like UNC vs. App State should be savored

A UNC vs. Appalachian State football game never was going to cure the ills of college football or the larger failings of College Sports Inc. For an evening, though, it was a game — settled in double-overtime, with UNC prevailing — that offered a reminder of what this weird, unfair sport can be, at its best. Mack Brown’s reaction afterward was understandable.
