Tar Heels hopes sacked

It was all there for the taking: the Coastal Division – the ACC title game, perhaps even the Orange Bowl. By failing to capitalize on chances at Maryland on Saturday, losing 17-15, No.17 North Carolina missed out on its biggest opportunity yet. The Tar Heels (7-3, 3-3) converted one of their 11 third-down opportunities, were shut out in the second half and couldn't shut down the Terrapins (7-3, 4-2) when it mattered the most.
