Dean Smith, a combination of fierce competitor and humble introvert, was careful in his evaluations of Joe Wolf. His philosophy was to be fair to all players on his team, but to also be fair to those he was recruiting. "Coach Smith would be leery to take a brother of a present or former player, unless he was sure the younger brother was something special."
