Tar Heels Force Overtime, Still Leave Maui with Two Losses


North Carolina knew it wasn't departing Hawaii with the big trophy, and missed out on collecting a consolation prize, too. The 12th-ranked Tar Heels weren't able to overcome unranked Michigan State after scrambling to force overtime, and suffered a hard-fought 94-91 loss on Wednesday in the Maui Invitational's third-place game at Lahaina Civic Center.
