For the second time in four games (UCLA), Elliot Cadeau defended a last-second shot in the lane to preserve a Tar Heel victory. Cadeau's game-winning 4-point play was the 17th lead change. Ian Jackson is the first Tar Heel freshman to score 23 or more points in four straight games. R.J. Davis passed Armando Bacot for second in UNC career scoring.
