Charlie 'Choo Choo' Justice - Part 2
Posted Jan 28, 2009
With Charlie Justice, Carolina moved to the big time. Kenan Stadium was expanded to 43,000 seats for the 1947 season. Magazines like Life and Saturday Evening Post showed up with stories about "Choo Choo." The team went 8-2. It beat Georgia Tech in the season opener but got hammered by Texas in the second game. The Tar Heels didn't play in any bowl games that season. In 1948, North Carolina had one of its best teams ever.
