The rebirth of what was once a terrific football program began when UNC hired Bill Dooley to run things in 1967. Within five years, his 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust approach had the Tar Heels atop the ACC standings and changing how a conference known more for its basketball would perform on the gridiron.
