Recruiting offers come fast to talented prep football players

By my calculation, three ballyhooed seniors – Hoggard’s T. J. Leifheit, West Brunswick’s Alfy Hill and South Columbus’ Ethan Farmer – had nearly 70 football offers by summer. I wondered what caused the proliferation of speedy offers and evolution in recruiting. “The biggest change is the early offers,’’ said former South Brunswick coach Gordon Walters, who had 15 players in three different stops sign Division I-A scholarships. “The combines also are getting earlier.’’
