Lars Tate urges son Donavan to sign with Padres

On the Padres front, the father of Padres first round pick Donavan Tate, confirmed today he has told the Georiga high school slugger he should sign with San Diego and forgo a football career. Lars Tate, a former star running back at Georgia, who played with the Tampa Bay Bucs, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he recommended his son turn to baseball. “I told him you need to swing that Louisville Slugger,” Lars told the AJC. “The NFL is ‘Not for Long’, that’s what it stands for.”
