UNC's Thompson, Stepheson raise their game

North Carolina won the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament title last weekend despite dismal performances by its sophomore forward tandem of Deon Thompson and Alex Stepheson. Both claimed to have been motivated by their lackluster play Friday as they combined for 27 points and 16 rebounds in a 113-74 rout of Mount St. Mary’s in the opening round of the NCAA tournament at the RBC Center.
