Clearwater Central Catholic's Petrocelli headed to UNC
Posted Mar 25, 2010
Clearwater Central Catholic defensive lineman Alec Petrocelli has accepted an invitation to be a preferred walk-on at North Carolina, former Marauders coach Mike Jalazo said. Last year, Petrocelli had 37 tackles and five for loss despite missing much of the first half of the season with injuries. He had interest from Div. I-AA and Div. II schools but wanted to earn a scholarship at a Div. I program. Petrocelli took the Tar Heels offer over similar ones from Rutgers and Virginia.
